In 2023, Collins Odhiambo celebrated victory with Kakamega Homeboyz as they clinched the FKF Cup title with a narrow win over Tusker at Kasarani Stadium.

However, Odhiambo has since changed sides and will now don the Tusker FC jersey as they face his former team in the round of 16 of the competition at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Mamboleo, Kisumu this weekend.

Tusker's Odhiambo focus

Acknowledging the emotional aspect of facing his former teammates, Odhiambo maintains a professional approach, emphasizing that despite the personal connections, the match is primarily about delivering on the field.

"I am meeting with my brothers, but this is work. When you leave home for work, you have to show your worth. It will be a very tough game but we have prepared well as a team," Odhiambo told Tusker media.

Odhiambo sees the opportunity to secure back-to-back Cup medals as a significant motivator, both for himself and the entire Tusker FC squad.

Moreover, the prospect of competing in Continental football next season adds an extra layer of motivation for the team to give their all in the upcoming duel.

Honor at Tusker

"It will be an honor to win again, and that is why I want to fight for the team and win. We want to take it one step at a time. Winning the Cup and playing Continental football is a big motivation. We want to give 100 percent in every match," the determined defender assserted.

This weekend marks the return of local football action with the FKF Cup set to resume, featuring the round of 16 matches scheduled for March 30 and 31, 2024, at various venues across the country.

The excitement begins with a doubleheader in Kisumu on Saturday at Jomo Kenyatta Mamboleo Stadium. First up is the clash between giant killers Bungoma Stars and FKF Premier League side Sofapaka, followed by Kakamega Homeboyz taking on Tusker.

At Police Sacco Stadium, Bidco United will host KCB, while Kenya Police will challenge FKF NSL side Mombasa Stars.
