Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriithi has blamed corruption and poor governance over the current cost of living occasioned by high cost of food products.

Speaking on a local television on Tuesday, the governor said Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) had been mismanaged and tainted with corruption.

"In the recent history of Kenya, President Uhuru Kenyatta had to make very dramatic changes in the energy ministry in order to deal with the issue.

"So corruption and poor governance are at the centre of why the cost of living is high," Muriithi stated.

Muriithi, who was recently appointed as the Chairman of Raila Odinga Presidential Campaign, said his candidate was committed to tackling corruption in the country.

"We've never heard our competitors talking tackling corruption as one of their agenda.

"If you enter into a bus and realise all the people there are facing corruption charges, you should as yourself why," he added.

Muriithi said should Raila win presidency in Agust 9 polls, he will address the high cost of foods by giving small holder farmers with subsidies.
