Security officers in Kisii have arrested a pastor who allegedly killed his wife at Omosasa village, in Kisii County on Thursday night and took the body to Christamarriene Catholic mission hospital morgue.

Kisii County Police Commander Jebel Munene said Pastor Joel Mogaka, 40, took her wife- Irene Nyakwara  to the  hospital in Kisii town with pretence she had taken poison, adding police have launched investigations.

He said autopsy will be done and the suspect will be arraigned to face the law once investors complete their work.

Munene said detectives had picked the pastor's phone and are probing if there were other accomplices in the killing, adding they had also recovered a cloth with blood stains.

Villagers in the Omosasa village in Bomachoge Borabu constituency said the couple lived ‘a private life’ adding the deceased was a teacher at Bombaba secondary school.

They alleged the husband was sacked from the Seventh Day Adventist, South Kenya Conference ( SKC) and embraced farming, adding the couple often quarreled.

Residents said he picked a quarrel with her on Thursday over some amorous texts in her phone and fought before he took a knife and slit her throat.

"They had been having marital differences on accusations and counter accusations over infidelity.  Elders attempted to iron out the issue in vain,” Tim Kironchi said.

Condemning the incident, villagers appealed to couple with marital challenges to embrace dialogue instead of resorting to violence.
