Shock as villagers find mutilated body by roadside

Residents of Kamuiru village in  Kiharu Murang'a County woke up to a rude shock on Friday morning after a mutilated body of a man was found dumped by the roadside.

The body,  which was staffed in a sack, had some of its parts; ears, nose and eyes missing.

His hair and the flesh on the upper body have also been cut off which made the locals think it was a ritual killing.

The residents decried increased cases of insecurity in the area but they termed the killing as the most bizarre to have ever witnessed.

"It was such a shocking scene and we have never seen such an incident in this area," said one of the locals.

The killing has instilled fear among locals who now want a police post in the area and regular patrols.

The police were able to identity the victim as Chege Njuguna, 50.

Muranga East OCPD Alex Muasyia said they have launched investigations into the matter  and urged anyone who had information that would aid into the probe to liaise with the police.

“We shall carry out investigations into the matter to track down the culprits and have them face the law," he said.

This comes barely two months after  a man beheaded his lover and left her body in his house only for the odour smell to attract the locals after four days.
