Student commits suicide after bitter argument with mother
A Form Three student committed suicide on Sunday after she allegedly had an argument with her mother over a phone.
The Pangani Girls High School student is said to have jumped into Kiriti Dam in Gatundia in Laikipia West, Laikipia County when her mother confronted her over a phone she had been forbidden to use.
Her elder brother, Waciuri Nderitu, 30, who braved the waters to rescue her drowning sister also drowned.
Area County Commissioner Hezron Nyamberi said the girl left a suicide note protesting the confiscation of her phone by the mother.
“She jumped into a nearby dam and efforts by her elder brother to rescue her were rendered futile as he also drowned,” added Nyamberi.
