Trans Nzoia: 600 squatters defy eviction order

Some 600 members of Meso Land buying company in Trans Nzoia who have defied court orders to move out of the about 250 acres risk being evicted in July after the 60-day notice of the lands and Environment Court expires.
The land buying company lost an appeal after Luore Nyairo Company associated with Former Rangwe MP Engineer Philip Okundi successfully had all its prayers granted by Environment and Lands Judge Charles Yano who struck out the land buying company's appeal against eviction.
Trans Nzoia county Commissioner Sam Ojwang said the situation on the ground had been assessed and confirmed having been served with copies of the eviction orders which were also served on members of the land buying company.
He directed Kiminini Sub County Security Committee to make security arrangements for rectification of the boundaries to enable Engineer Philp Okundi fence off his land as directed by the court and asked area residents to follow the stipulated law by ensuring court orders are followed.
Speaking to the People Daily in Kitale Town Tuesday, Ololo said the Land buying company officials should seek compensation for the LR. NO. 7060/3 which they claimed to have purchased from the late Dr. John Ouko after he deferred payment of the loan advanced to him by the Agricultural Finance Corporation ( AFC).
“It's shear waste of time for officials of the land buying company to use delaying tactics in buying time. The Court ordered them to move out in 2017, 2018 and now in 2020 the same Court has ruled that they be evicted," he said and complained that they are using some section of the political class to issue pedestrian decrees against anticipated evictions.
