City lawyer Professor George Wakackoyah was yesterday disqualified by the High Court from representing the family of Sharon Otieno in murder case facing Migori Governor  Zachary Obado.

In her ruling, Justice Grace Ngenye found and held that Wakackoyah had privileged information prior to Obado taking plea which would be prejudicial to the trial.

She noted that Wakackoyah had on December 23 last year visited Obado at Gigiri police station where he took instructions as his lawyer.

He later, when Obado was charged on December 3, did not represent  him, instead he appeared for the victims in the murder case of Sharon Otieno and her unborn child.

While impeaching the lawyer, the judge said Wakackoyah had conflict of interest and that the information he held would be prejudicial to trial if allowed to continue appearing for the victims in the case.

"Despite the law allowing litigants to choose his lawyer in this particular case, the advocate abused is professional conduct," she said.
