COVID-19 Positivity drops as MOH reports 140 recoveries and 24 deaths in the last 24 hours

Kenya has reported 345 positive COVID-19 cases from a sample size of 6,686 tested in the last 24 hours.

According to a Tuesday, May 4 COVID-19 status update by the Ministry of Health (MOH), the positivity rate of the virus in the country stands at 5.2%.

At the same time, 140 patients have recovered from the disease with 82 of them coming from Home Based & Isolation Care. 

58 people of the 140 recoveries are from various health facilities countrywide. 

Total recoveries in the country now stands at 109,217 of whom 79,525 are from Home Based Care and Isolation while 29,692 are from various health facilities.

MOH also reported 24 fatalities from the virus in the last 24 hours, with one having occurred in the last 24 hours.

15 deaths occurred on diverse dates within the last one month and 8 are late death reports from facility record audits. This now pushes cumulative fatalities to 2,805.

1,230 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 6,654 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.  154 patients are in the ICU, 26 of whom are on ventilatory support and 101 on supplemental oxygen. 27 patients are on observation.

117 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 109 of them in general wards and 8 in High Dependency Units.

Total confirmed positive cases are now 160,904 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,688,106.
