Covid-19 Update: 18 die, 137 test positive as total confirmed cases hit 160,559

Kenya on Monday recorded 137 new cases of Covid-19 from 1,641 samples tested in the last 24 hours, says Health CS Mutahi Kagwe.

In a statement to the newsrooms, Kagwe stated that the total tests done across the country stands at 1,681,420.

The new confirmed cases now bring the total positive cases in the country to 160,559.

The Ministry also announced 18 more deaths from the pandemic bringing the total to 2,781.

A total of 1,265 people are admitted to various health facilities over Covid. Another, 6,614 patients are on the home-based care programme.

179 patients are in ICU, out of which 29 are on ventilatory support.

127 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen; 119 are in general wards and eight in the HDU.

Meanwhile, 216 new cases of recoveries were also recorded within the same period raising the total to 109, 077. 170 of them were from home-based care while the remaining 46 were discharged from the hospital.

A total of  887,034 have been vaccinated across the country, revealed the CS.

Of these 516,140 are aged 58 years and above together with others, Health workers are 158,103, Teachers 137,581 while Security Officers 74,464.
