Covid-19 Update: 536 test positive as positivity rate stands at 8.9%

The Ministry of Health has said that 536 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate is now 8.9%.

According to MOH, the 536 tested positive from a sample size of 6,036 bringing the total confirmed positive cases to 188,513.

"So far the cumulative tests conducted by MOH is 2,012,698," Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said in a statement on Saturday, July 10.

Of the 536 new infections, 518 are Kenyans, 18 foreigners. 274 are male 262 female.

336 patients recovered from the disease with 236 of the patients being from various health facilities countrywide.

100 of the recoveries were from Home-Based Isolation and Care Program. MOH placed total recoveries at 178,119 with 141,98 recoveries coming from Home based care while 36,161 are from health facilities across the country.

Sadly, 3 patients succumbed to the disease pushing total fatalities to 3,721.

1,092 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide while 3,982 are at Home Based and Isolation Program.

Another 202 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 184 of them in general wards and 18 in High Dependency Units.

In terms of representation by counties, Nairobi had 186, Busia 50, Nandi 17, Kericho 16, Siaya, 15, Migori 12, Kisumu 12, Kilifi 11, Laikipia 10, Nyamira 9, Kajiado 8, Kiambu 7, Vihiga 6, Nyandarua 5, Kakamega, 5, Turkana 5, Baringo 4, Tana River 4, Murang'a 4, Bomet 3, Homa Bay 3, Embu 2, Kirinyaga 2, Kwale 2, Machakos 2, Narok 1, Tharak Nithi 1, Garisa 1 and Kitui 1.

In terms of vaccination, MOH said that 1,538,340 vaccinations have been administered so far.
