Musicians, actors and artistes can now submit their proposals for the Sh100-million stimulus package launched by the government on May 10 this year.

On Wednesday, the State Department for Culture and Heritage Principal Secretary (PS) Josephta Mukobe announced an online portal that had been set up to facilitate sending of proposals. The Sports Cabinet Secretary (CS) Amina Mohamed during the programme’s launch had asked applicants to send in their proposals.

“All interested artistes, musicians and actors are invited to immediately submit their proposals on artistic productions for consideration by the ministry.

“We are cognizant of the fact that Kenya has over 100,000 creatives and that the available funding may not be sufficient to cover all artistes engaged within the creative economy. Therefore, this will be a competitive process,” said Mukobe in a statement.

The Permanent Presidential Music Commission will facilitate the participation of musicians, deejays, dancers and acapella groups in all their categories.

Comedians and visual artists will be covered by the Department of Culture, the Kenya Cultural Centre will be responsible for actors, poets, storytellers and theatre (including radio theatre and mimes).

The National Museums of Kenya will oversee mural and graffiti artists, while the Kenya Film Commission will manage all matters of film and content creation.

“The Ministry shall endeavour to guarantee participation reach in all the 47 counties, ensure gender parity and pay particular emphasis on the 30 per cent reservation for vulnerable groups including persons living with disability,” added Mukobe.

She empasised the selection process would be fair, transparent and accountable, both in the selection of content providers and distribution of funds.
