Here is what you need to know to get up to speed with today's happenings.

COP28

Today marks day four of the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC) more commonly referred to as Conference of the Parties (COP28.)

President William Ruto on Thursday, November 30, 2023, departed the country for Dubai to attend COP28.

The 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference kicked off on November 30 and will run until December 12, 2023, at Expo City, Dubai.

Power blackouts

Kenya Power has issued a notice informing Kenyans of scheduled power interruptions which will affect three counties today.

In an update shared via the company's official X account on Saturday night, the counties that will be affected include Nairobi, Machakos, and Nyamira.

Kenya Power said the blackout will start from 9 am to 5 pm.

In Nairobi, the blackout will affect part of the Industrial area, Stanbic Bank, ABC Bank, Wasib Solutions Ltd, Changamwe Road, Dakar Road, KCC Depot, Onkar Engineering works, Garage Road, part of Bandari Road, Biselex Kenya Ltd, UTL and adjacent customers from 9 am to 5 pm.

The blackout in Nairobi will also affect part of Eastleigh, Juja B Towers, part of Ushirika, Mukunga Road, Strawberry Hombe Road, Jam Street, Muratina Road, Strawberry Plaza, Huruma, Nissi petrol station, Redeemed Church Huruma, Moi Forces Academy, Hombe Road and adjacent customers from 9 am to 5 pm.

The power outage will also affect parts of Nyamira and Machakos counties.
