DP Ruto forced to use Bible verse to explain his ‘bottom-up economy’ approach
Deputy President William Ruto has yet again defended his 'bottom-up' economic approach while anchoring it on biblical teachings.
In his Sunday address during a church service at Sacred Heart Parish in Kawangware, Ruto claimed that the stability of a nation is anchored on the common mwananchi.
"The stability and unity of a nation are built on a platform where every citizen can be the best," Ruto said.
Ruto further claimed that the politics of alliances based on power-sharing deals is outdated, adding that an equal society is created when the interests of common citizens are taken into account.
"The stability of a nation is going to be meaningful if the conversation is not about leaders and how they are going to create opportunities for themselves," Ruto said.
in a bid to further explain the bottom-up approach, the DP further quoted a biblical verse; Psalm 113 verse 7-8 while saying that; "bottom-up is in the bible. The word of God says that the Lord will raise the poor from the dust and make them dine with kings and princesses."
The statement comes after Siaya Senator James Orengo asked the National Assembly to summon him (Deputy President) to shed light on his links with Turkish national Harun Aydin.
Speaking during the burial of Jaduong Nyakwamba, the father of Homabay Senator Moses Kajwanga on Saturday, August 14, Orengo claimed Interior CS Dr Fred Matiang'i has sufficient evidence against the DP.
"We must summon Ruto before the Parliamentary Committee to speak on this matter and give us an answer if he is being truthful," Orengo said.
"How can you have business in Uganda, instead of leaving Turkey and going to Uganda directly, you pass through Nairobi? They were trying to create a network for money laundering," he added.
