Deputy President William Ruto has today joined Kenyans in mourning the demise of Bishop Godfrey Migwi.

Migwi a household name in the country passed on today in the morning leaving Kenyans and his church followers in a sombre mood.

DP Ruto said the House of Hope Church, Kayole's Bishop, was a bold and powerful spiritual leader, with a great sense of humour.

"Bishop Godfrey Migwi was a bold, vocal and powerful spiritual leader with a great sense of humour. He was a mentor and a friend with firm pastoral faith that he infused to many of us. We will miss his topical and nourishing sermons," Ruto said.

Ruto described the bishop as a mentor and friend whose sermons will be greatly missed as the second in command prayed for God's comfort to Migwi's family and friends during this difficult time.

"Our love and prayers to the family, their loved ones and the House Of Hope Church-Kayole fraternity during this sad time. Rest In Peace, Bishop Migwi," Ruto said.

Migwi was vocal in Mt. Kenya region and will be remembered for his powerful sermons during DP Ruto's visit in the area.

Prior to his demise, the bishop had declared his interest in the Mathioya parliamentary seat.

The demise of Migwi comes just less than two months after another cleric close to DP Ruto passed on.

Shem Shamala, the high priest of the African Church of the Holy Spirit based in Tumbeni area of Malava, Kakamega County, died just a week after getting a car gift from the DP.

Ruto surprised the priest with a car, a Suzuki Vitara in an effort to support him to spread the word of God to his followers.
