Deputy President William Ruto has criticised the Opposition for 'turning into Lords of corruption' and defending the alleged heist in the Covid-19 supplies scandal.

The Deputy President on Sunday afternoon said their(Opposition) interest in the Handshake was to loot.

"The pretentious (former)Opposition, now turned Lords of corruption, attempted defence of the Covid19 grand larceny is NOT shocking. It confirms the worst of Kenyan's fears that their side of handshake was never interested in the people's good but opportunity to loot. What a shame," wrote the DP on his Twitter on Sunday.

The DP's sentiments comes a day after the Orange Democratic Party(ODM) defended the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority(KEMSA) in the alleged multi-billion-shillings scandal.

On Saturday, ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna said the exposure by the media against Kemsa was 'baseless' and 'sensational'.

"We ask the media houses and other news agencies exercise responsibility in their coverage endangering ordinary Kenyans and not just the leaders," said Sifuna.

The ODM party also faulted the probe by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations saying the investigation was a wonder as there was no 'audit' by the Auditor General.

"We gather that the DCI has been called into KEMSA to investigate these matters. We however wonder how this can be so, before a credible audit by the Auditor General is carried out to ascertain the veracity of these claims," read the ODM statement.
