Evans Juma Wanjala a serial murder suspect has pleaded not guilty to murder charges after being arraigned at the Kapenguria High Court on Wednesday morning.

The suspect who took plea denied three murder charges before Kapenguria High Court judge Justus Bwonwonga.

Wanjala was facing three accounts of murder contrary to Section 203 as read with Section 204 of the Penal Code Cap 63.

The court heard that between December 31, 2017, to January 1, 2020, the suspect Evans Juma Wanjala murdered Stacy Achieng in Moi's bridge area Soy Sub County, but the suspect denied the first account.

On account two, the accused person was charged with committing murder on Linda Cherono within Moi's bridge area between June 11, to June 15, 2021, but the suspect denied the second account.

On the third account, the suspect also denied having killed Mary Eruza at Tuiyaberi area Soy Sub County between December 15, to December 16, 2020.

The accused is alleged to have killed and defiled five girls in Moi's bridge area in Uasin Gishu County between the years 2017 to 2021.

Representing the accused, Michael Wabomba Masinde filed an affidavit for the suspect to be bailed out, but the bail terms were denied by the court.

"The bail will be determined by the Eldoret High Court, if given the bail he might interfere with the murder case." Said Justice Bwonwonga.

Assistant deputy of the office of public prosecution Jalson Makori Assistant said if the accused is released on bail, he may interfere with witnesses.

Justice Bwonwonga directed the case to be mentioned on September 8, 2021 before the Eldoret High court, and he should be remanded at Eldoret GK prison.

Parents of the deceased girls followed closely the court proceedings and said they need justice to be delivered since they lost their kids through the hands of the serial killer.

Geoffrey Omega, father to the late Mary Eruza said if their daughters would be alive they could be at school going on with their education.

Another parent, Harrison Kinyua said they are depending on the courts to deliver justice buts it's so devastating for the suspect to deny the charges, yet he had confessed earlier to have killed the girls when he was being interrogated by DCI officers.

"We are here to get justice because our innocent daughters were murdered. We leave everything to God." he said.
