'I am worth Ksh851M,' - Defence CS nominee Aden Duale reveals

Defence Cabinet Secretary nominee Aden Duale has revealed that he is worth Ksh851 million.

The Garissa Township MP made the revelations when he appeared before a Committee on Appointments on Monday, October 17, 2022.

"I am worth Ksh851 million including the assets I own and the camels and sheep I own. I even had to go and value my 231 camels somewhere in Kitui County,' Duale told the committee.

He further disclosed that he makes Ksh10 million annually from his rental property.

If approved the long-serving legislator will resign to take up the CS role in President William Ruto's administration.

Earlier, former National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi revealed that he is worth approximately Ksh700 million.

“Mr chairman, I've been a very modest civil servant and my net worth is currently estimated as just about Ksh700 million," he said told, Speaker Moses Wetang'ula, the chairperson of the vetting committee.

When asked about his current source of income, he stated;

"Currently from my activities as a farmer and consultancy, I get occasional rewards but I am now a pensioner, a retired speaker depending on public coffers."

Muturi was the second Cabinet nominee to face the panel after Prime Cabinet secretary nominee Musalia Mudavadi.

Mudavadi told the committee that is worth Ksh4 billion.

"If I take my investment in shares in some companies and also properties that I own, I would put my net worth at about Ksh4 billion.
