Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i yesterday condemned political intolerance in Busia at the weekend and ordered police to arrest and charge all persons who caused chaos during Deputy President William Ruto’s tour of the county.

He said although eight suspects had been arrested, their sponsors should also be pursued and apprehended to face the law.

“Those who sent the goons should also be arrested and charged irrespective of their position,” he said.

He spoke  in Ol Kalou town, Nyandarua county yesterday during the official launch of Trinity Radio and Television owned by Trinity Methodist Church of Ol Kalou.

The CS said Kenyans are free to tour any part of the country without seeking permission from anybody.

He said Kenyans made a choice to be democratic and disagreements and differences in opinion should not be a reason to cause violence and intolerance.

He said nobody is allowed to disrupt meeting and:”we cannot allow such things to happen, Matiang’i warned saying that security machinery will be firm in implementing the law as the country heads towards next year’s General Election.

On Huduma Namba, he vowed to pursue the matter to its conclusion because it is meant to ease peoples’ “burden of carrying bagful of personal cards”.

Tutasukumana mpaka Supreme Court (We are going to push up to the Supreme Court),” he vowed.  He said the resistance the project is facing is similar to what digital migration faced when he was in the ICT ministry.

The CS cautioned media houses to abide by set regulations adding that he hoped he will not be forced to take stern action against any station.
