Elders have advised me to support DP Ruto, popularize UDA party – Wilson Sossion announces
ODM Nominated MP Wilson Sossion is soon likely to announce his defection from the Raila Odinga-led party to Deputy President William Ruto's UDA party.
This is after he announced that he has been advised to support DP Ruto's presidential bid.
In a message he shared on his Facebook on Monday, September 6, the former KNUT Secretary-General revealed that he met with elders from his rural home who also implored him to popularize United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
Sossion, who has declared that he will run for Bomet senatorial seat, has been cagey on announcing his 2022 political stand but his latest statements have proved that his allegiance to the DP is no longer a matter of if but when.
"They say charity begins at home, today (Monday) in my residence, the elders of Motigo Sub location in Bomet Central have decided to endorse my senate aspirations in 2022. The elders have advised me to stick on the prize and avoid backing any politician but to support the Deputy President William Ruto in his 2022 presidential bid as well as popularizing the newly formed party UDA," Sossion said.
The announcement comes barely a month after he told a local radio station that he would be announcing his political stand after assessing the situation on the ground.
Sossion has recently been vocal on social media selling the bottom-up economic model that is being propagated by the DP.
The first-term MP was nominated to parliament by the ODM party to represent the interests of the teachers at the National Assembly.
His nomination turned to be his nightmare as the TSC used it to deregister him as a teacher after protracted wrangles between KNUT and the teachers' employer.
The Nominated MP was forced to quit a day to KNUT elections that sources say he was set to lose.
