Ex-IEBC staff land posts as Uhuru names ambassadors
President Uhuru Kenyatta has made changes in different embassies by nominating two former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) members to serve as deputy head of missions.
In the circular seen by People Daily, former IEBC vice-chairperson Consolata Nkatha Maina has been nominated as the deputy head of mission in Rome while Margaret Mwachanya has been proposed for Islamabad in the same capacity.
At the same time, President Kenyatta has once again displayed his trust in military officers by nominating Major Gen (rtd) Samuel Nandwa as ambassador to Juba.
Juba was previously led by ambassador Chris Karumba Mburu before his death early this year.
Navy Commander
Major General (Rtd) Ngewa Mukala who retired this year as in Kenya Navy commander has been proposed to lead Kenya’s delegation in Khartoum.
Major General (Rtd) Thomas Chepkato has also been nominated as the deputy head of mission in Mogadishu.
The nominees will have to be vetted and approved by the National Assembly before they are appointed by Parliament.
Other appointed are Hudson Ivistia who will be the deputy head of Mission in Abuja, Joakim Kiarie Kamere to serve as deputy head of mission in London, Dr Paul Kibiwott will serve as deputy head of mission in Moscow, Irene Achieng Oloo will serve in India as deputy head and Isaac Parashina in Tel Aviv to serve in the same capacity.
At the United Nations, President Kenyatta has appointed Ambassador Martin Kimani as permanent representative.
