A family in Siaya wants the government to offer them financial support to enable them travel to Malindi to look for their missing daughter who worshiped at Pastor Mackenzie’s Good News International Church.

The family of 24-year-old Linda Adhiambo say they are unable to raise fare to travel to Malindi to follow up her case.

Rose Awino and Jacob Omondi say their daughter went to Malindi close to one year ago.

Awino, who spoke to journalists at her home in Komenya Rabar, said that in her last communication in September last year, Adhiambo told them to forget about her, saying she had gone for prayers in the wilderness and was not going to return to this world.

She says that they took the matter lightly until recently when the issue of the Shakahola deaths came to light.

“We did not take her words seriously,” said Awino.

She said they had reported their case to the local police stations in Siaya and registered their concerns with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) but are yet to get proper communication.

Omondi said their concern was that families whose members were missing were already in Malindi to conduct DNA tests but they have no means of travelling.

“We have not been able to raise the fare that’s why we are appealing for support from government and well wishers,” he said.
