Gor Mahia striker Benson Omalla has maintained his position as the top scorer in the FKF Premier League (FKF PL) after 16 rounds of the campaign.

Despite not scoring in the last three league matches, Omalla remains in contention for the Golden Boot, keeping his hopes alive for securing the award this season.

Currently, four players are tied with six goals each in the league. This group includes Francis Kahiro from KCB Football Club, Boniface Muchiri from Ulinzi Stars, Moses Shumah from Kakamega Homeboyz, and Vincent Owino from Nairobi City Stars.

Players with five goals each include Derrick Nsibambi from Bandari, Brian Yakhama from AFC Leopards, Awita Batts from Murang'a Seal, and Geoffrey Onyango from Kariobangi Sharks.

In the Golden Glove race, Gor Mahia goalkeeper Kevin Omondi has showcased an outstanding performance in the first half of the FKF Premier League campaign, positioning himself as a leading contender for the Golden Glove award.

FKF Premier League cleansheets

Omondi has secured an impressive 10 clean sheets in the initial 16 matches of the season, establishing himself as the primary choice goalkeeper for coach Johnathan Mckinstry.

A notable achievement in Omondi's performance was his remarkable seven consecutive clean sheets between October 7 and November 26.

During this period, he successfully kept opposing teams like AFC Leopards, Tusker, Bidco United, Shabana, Kenya Police, Murang'a Seal, and Muhoroni Youth from scoring. In the final two matches before the break, Omondi added two more clean sheets to his tally as Gor Mahia emerged victorious against FC Talanta and Bandari.

Omondi's defensive capabilities are evident in the limited number of goals conceded, with only six teams managing to breach his defences. Nzoia Sugar are the only side to score more than one goal against Omondi this season, with a total of seven goals conceded in the 16 matches played.

Boniphas Munyasa of Murang'a Seal and Patrick Matasi of Kenya Police have achieved six clean sheets each in 16 matches.
