Ford Kenya rival factions escalate supremacy feud
The supremacy battle in Ford Kenya escalated after Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi, his Tongaren counterpart Eseli Simiyu and Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati maintained that the planned National Delegates Congress [NDC] would go on as scheduled.
They said the meeting set for November 21 at the Bomas of Kenya would go on without any interference from any quarters.
Their remarks come after Bungoma senator Moses Wetang’ula disputed the notice by Eseli calling for the meeting.
Wetangula in a notice placed in one of the dailies stated that the meeting convened by Eseli was invalid.

“This is to notify members of Ford Kenya and the general public that the notice published by Eseli did not emanate from the party and it is invalid,” he said.
Wetang’ula argued that Eseli had been suspended from the party and that the matter was also before a court of law and he stands barred from transacting party business.
However Eseli said they were not going to allow the deregistration of the party because of a few people who do not want to be subjected to election.
Speaking when they met the delegates in preparation for the said meeting, the MP said they do not have a valid reason on why the party had not held election for the last nine years.
“There isn’t justification as to why we have not had any elections for the last nine years,” said Eseli.
Scheduled NDC
Wamunyinyi asked the members to ignore Wetang’ula’s notice saying the meeting was on as planned and appealed to them to turn out in large numbers to elect new office bearers.
“The Ford Kenya NDC scheduled on November 21, at Bomas is on so ignore any notices and sentiments to the contrary,” said Wamunyinyi.
He said new Ford Kenya leadership believes in democracy and the NDC was going to give members an opportunity to elect new office.
Wamunyinyi who declared himself the interim chairman after carrying out the coup,said the NDC will also solve perennial wrangles in the party.
Wangamati said the party belongs to people and that its leadership shall not be decided through court battles.
The three have embarked on countrywide tours to owe the delegates a head of the NDC meeting.
