Former Nairobi Speaker Ole Magelo is dead
Former Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Alex Ole Magelo is dead.
While confirming the death, Narok Senator Ledama Olekina described Magelo as a true friend. “Today is a sad day for us! I am saddened by the departure of a true friend and a son of the Maa Nation Speaker Alex Ole Magelo. Rest well with the Angels say hi to Saitoti, Ntimama and Joh Keen for us!” he tweeted.
Sources within Magelo's family say the former AFC Leopards chairman died on the night of Friday, May 7 after suffering a fatal cardiac arrest.
He had been hospitalised for four weeks before suffering the attack at Nairobi Hospital.
In the past week, social media was abuzz with rumours making rounds that the former AFC Leopards boss had passed on.
Magelo took charge of AFC Leopards as Chairman when the club was promoted back to the top tier after suffering a relegation to the second tier league.
In 2013, he stepped down from the helm of Ingwe citing inhouse fight and unhealthy politics within the club's top circles.
