Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua yesterday warned that police officers and chiefs who will be found condoning illicit brews and drugs in their areas will be fired.

“Before I go, you will have gone first,” the DP warned the police and the administrators.

He said senior police officers who fail to enforce the war of the vice will not be transferred to other stations because that will amount to ‘transferring a problem.”

He spoke at the Nyahururu ACK church where he was chief guest in raising funds in readiness for a ceremony for the retirement of the Nyahururu Diocese ACK head, Bishop Stephen Kabora who is set to step down later this year after attaining retirement age.

The DP gave Sh5 million that included Sh3 million from President William Ruto. Responding to appeal by Ol Moran Ward MCA, George Karuiru that a permanent solution must be found for insecurity in Laikipia, Gachagua said he will soon call for a meeting with Laikipia County leaders and top security officers led by the County Commissioner Joseph Kanyiri to agree on the way to completely end insecurity.

“We cannot allow the killings in the County to continue. I will soon meet you (security team) so that we can exchange ideas on how to end the problem,”

Leaders who accompanied the DP, led by Nyandarua and Laikipia woman Representatives, Faith Gitau and Kagiri respectively drummed up support for the Finance Bill saying taxation is the only the government can get money for recurrent and development.

Some leaders from Laikipia and Nyandarua pleaded with the DP, who is spearheading reforms in the tea and coffee sectors, to also spearhead reforms in the maize, potato and milk sectors that are the mainstay of the two counties.
