"I wished him a quick recovery and assured him of our support as he recovers. Tough action will be taken against the perpetrators of this attack and anyone who will attempt similar acts against officers leading this fight," he added.

The Deputy President insisted on the government's commitment to combating illicit brews, drugs, and substance abuse.

He affirmed that the fight against the vices will continue until the nation is free from their grip.

Gachagua pledged full government support to all law enforcement officers leading the battle, ensuring the successful implementation of directives aimed at eradicating the menace.

"The war against illicit brews, drugs and substance abuse will not stop until our nation is free of these vices. Police and other officers who are at the forefront in this fight have the full government support for successful implementation of the state's directives to deal with the menace," he added.

Gachagua has been leading a nationwide crackdown on illicit brews, drugs, and substance abuse. He has from time to time stressed that the eradication of illicit substances is crucial for restoring the dignity of the nation, particularly its youth.

Gachagua on sports role

Gachagua recently praised sports as a significant tool in the ongoing battle against illicit brews in the nation.

Addressing a gathering of top athletes from Adidas Kenya at his official residence in Karen in late March, the Deputy President highlighted the positive impact of youth involvement in sports, noting a decline in alcoholism cases as a result.

As part of the government's strategy to combat the menace, there is a concerted effort to promote constructive and healthy activities among young people, with a particular emphasis on sports participation.

Gachagua emphasized the importance of channelling youth energy into productive endeavours like sports, which not only fosters physical well-being but also contributes to the reduction of alcohol-related issues in society.
