Garissa Governor Ali Korane has been barred from using over Sh1.9 billion released from the National Treasury except for payment of the eligible pending bills to 63 companies.

Justice Charles Kariuki on Wednesday directed the county government to pay Sh1.9 billion pending bills to the contractors who alleged to have done several projects including building of schools, boreholes, water dams, roads and other development projects estimated to cost Sh4 billion.

"That a conservatory order is issued directing the respondents to prevent them from using Sh 1,927,137,092 released by Treasury for any other purpose other than for payments of the eligible pending bills," ordered justice Kariuki.

The 63 petitioners, through lawyer Abdirazak Mohamed, claim that the county government has money and has resulted to paying new contractors with the sum released from the National Treasury.
