Gor Mahia claimed another Mashemeji Derby bragging rights after seeing off AFC Leopards 1-0 in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League match played at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday, April 21, 2024.

K'Ogalo claimed the narrow win in a tense encounter and are now a few games from defending the Premier League title.

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia almost broke the deadlock in the seventh minute when Ronney Onyango failed to beat Ingwe's goalkeeper Levis Opiyo at close range.

Another chance came when Onyango's pass found Bryson Wangai from the left flank. The forward laid the ball for Austin Odhiambo, who could not find the back of the net from some good position to score in the 17th minute.

After moments of putting Ingwe under pressure, K'Ogalo finally claimed the lead courtesy of a 29th-minute goal scored by Odhiambo.

The pressure on Ingwe was masterminded by Odhiambo, a former player at the den, and Benson Omala who is under some pressure after Tito Okello of Police caught up with him in the top scorers' chart.

Gor Mahia found themselves fighting against a spirited Ingwe side after Kevin Omondi was sent off. The goalkeeper was shown a red card after he brought down AFC Leopards' forward Victor Omune late in the first half.

Caleb Omondi was brought on and despite the pressure on him, especially in the second half, he finally managed to keep a clean sheet.

Gor Mahia now enjoy a nine-point lead at the top and are on course to lift a 21st historic Premier League title.
