A female police officer captured in a video claiming that she was being mistreated by her seniors in Kakamega County has been sent on leave as investigations on her allegations commence.

The officer is also expected to undergo a psychiatric evaluation to determine if she is of sound mind.

Speaking in Mombasa, National Police Service Commission Chairman Eliud Kinuthia said Jane Asimisiti has been allowed to take some days off so as to "cool down" while they investigate her allegations.

“We would also want a comprehensive medical report to ascertain if she is of sound mind. What she was saying on live camera does not look like sentiments from a normal police officer,” he said.
