Governor Amason Kingi speaks after ODM ouster
Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has spoken after he was ousted as chairperson of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in Kilifi County.
In a statement shared on his social media pages on Tuesday, August 10, Kingi thanked ODM leader, Raila Odinga, and the party leadership for the leadership opportunity they had accorded him.
"As I respect the decision of the ODM party to replace me as the Kilifi County ODM Party Chairman, I wish to take this opportunity to thank the party and more particularly, the party leader the Rt Hon. Raila Odinga for giving me the opportunity to serve as the Kilifi County ODM Chairman for the past nine years," Kingi said.
In his statement, Kingi said he steered the party to great success and made sure that it became the dominant party in his county.
"During my tenure as the Kilifi County ODM chairman, I steered the party to great success and made sure that ODM became the dominant Party in the County, a fact that was confirmed during the last general election in the County to deliver a clean sweep for the ODM Part in all elective positions," Kingi said.
"I wish the Party the very best, not just in Kilifi County, but across the country as it prepares itself for the 2022 elections. God bless," the governor added.
On its part, ODM nominated Ganze Member of Parliament, Teddy Mwambire, to take up the position.
