Governor Joho men harassing us, MCAs claim

Kongowea MCA Abrari Mohamed.

Mombasa Members of the County Assembly (MCA), who accused Governor Hassan Joho’s administration of misappropriating funds, claim the governor is “sending proxies to intimidate them”.

On Wednesday, Kongowea MCA Abrari Mohamed claimed his flower farm was destroyed by Mombasa County inspectorate workers.

“This is the third time my business is being destroyed. Besides, my brother was beaten up and arrested for no good reason,” said Mohamed.

He claimed the flower gardens located in Nyali and two others in Shanzu were destroyed and some property confiscated by officials in what he termed political witch hunt.

When contacted by People Daily Mombasa County Secretary Dennis Lewa said he was not aware of the allegations but said he would follow up and respond to it once he gets information.

“I am not aware but I will find out about the allegations. I will get back to you when I have more information,” Lewa told People daily.

Our efforts to get Mombasa county director of Inspectorate were futile as all phones went unanswered.

However, efforts to get Governor Joho for a comment went futile but an official, who is not allowed speak to the media termed the allegations as a plan to taint the governor’s image.

“There is nothing like political witch-hunt, that is a road reserve and there are departments that deal with road issues, if they have presented the claims to EACC, let them wait,” the official said.
