Governor Nyong’o responds to claims that he sent goons to cause chaos during Ruto’s Kondele rally
Kisumu Governor Professor Anyang Nyong'o has responded to claims from United Democratic Alliance (UDA) allied members who accused him of sponsoring chaos during Deputy President William Ruto's rally in Kondele Kisumu.
In a public statement issued on Thursday, November 11, Nyong'o distanced himself from the Wednesday chaos rubbishing the accusations as malicious rants.
"Our attention has been drawn to false and malicious reports being circulated by a section of politicians and activists allied to Deputy President William Ruto concerning an incident where the DP's convoy was allegedly stoned by unknown people at Kondele in downtown Kisumu," the statement read in part.
Governor Nyongo further called out former Senator Boni Khalwale, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi and former State House employee Dennis Itumbi for claiming that the chaos was sponsored by the Kisumu County government.
"This is not only false but utterly ridiculous, careless and a figment of imagination by these political hirelings struggling to please their paymaster," Nyongo said.
The governor stated that Kisumu County Government has no business meddling in political campaigns adding that his administration did not send any of its employees to cause chaos in Kondele.
Nyong'o further challenged the three to prove that the County Government planned, met its employees and instructed them to stone Ruto.
"Such proof must be accompanied by real evidence and not the photoshop caricatures like the one being spread by Itumbi," the statement stated further.
After the unfortunate incident, Ruto asked Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader to desist from using youths to pelt stones at his political competitors.
Ruto, who was speaking in Migori county, said that Kenyan youths need jobs and an atmosphere to work.
"The leader of ODM please, Let us not use our children to throw stones and cause violence. These young people deserve jobs and an atmosphere to work," he said.
In his response, Raila distanced himself from the chaos reiterating that he has no intention of causing chaos at DP Ruto's Nyanza rally, stating that Ruto's stature cannot be compared to his.
"Mimi sio mtoto mdogo niende kuorganize watu warushie Ruto mawe, kwa sababu gani? Ruto ni kitu kidogo sana kwangu," Raila said.
The former premier further said Ruto and any other presidential aspirant is free to travel and sell his political ideologies to the voters in each and every corner of the country.
"Mimi sitaki kuingia kwa mambo ya porojo, labda niongee kwa mambo ya ukweli, Ruto ni Mkenya na anaruhusiwa kutembea popote kuuza sera zake,". (I don't want to engage myself in political lies unless I talk the truth, Ruto is a Kenyan, and he is allowed to traverse any region of the country)," Raila said.
