Govt launches Huduma Namba, National ID registration process for students in Muranga
The government has announced a massive Huduma Namba and National ID registration drive for students in Muranga county.
According to an official statement seen by People Daily Digital, the Ministry of Interior and Co-ordination of National Government has written to school principals asking them to prepare students above 18 years of age for the process.
“The Department intends to launch an intensive mobile registration program to be conducted across the country aimed at registering all eligible applicants for both the National Identity card and Huduma Namba card,” the statement read in part.
In the statement, school principals in Muranga county have also been asked to tell their students who have attained 18 years to take their birth certificates and parent’s identity card copies after the school holidays.
The announcement by the Ministry of Interior comes after Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) launched a massive national voter registration drive in Nakuru county on Monday, October 4.
The electorate body aims at netting at least six million voters in the exercise which will be conducted at the County Assembly Ward level.
“I urge all eligible Kenyans who have not registered as voters to turn up in large numbers and register,” IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati said.
