Health ministry promises quick emergency services as world remembers road traffic victims
A total 3, 975 Kenyans lost their lives due to road traffic accidents in 2020, statistics by the government showed.
Forty percent of these fatalities occurred among motorcyclists while 34 per cent occurred among passengers.
"Over 80 per cent of the road traffic incidences we experience are associated with human error.
"Let us all take responsibility for ensuring we adopt appropriate and considerate behaviour when using the road," the Ministry of Health said during World Day of Remembrance of Road Traffic Victims being marked today.
The ministry said it is investing in emergency services to ensure no lives are lost in case the victims reach hospital.
"We strive to ensure emergency and trauma services are comprehensive to manage road traffic victims by implementing appropriate policies and training health care workers," the ministry said.
