H******e detectives: Cops link Kariobangi man to lover’s d***h
Homicide detectives attached to Starehe Police Station are holding a man, who allegedly stabbed her fiancé three times in the back while she was working in Kariobangi area, Nairobi.
Pius Irungu Kinuthia, 28, is accused of killing his estranged girlfriend Susan Wanjiku over unclear reasons at the weekend.
Wanjiku, 35, was an employee of the Sonko Rescue Team, an outfit founded by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to provide social services in the community. She died while undergoing treatment.
“She was on duty cleaning Kamunde Road when her former husband came and stabbed her thrice. She was rushed to Jamii Kipawa Hospital where she died while undergoing treatment,” police investigations revealed.
The body was taken to Kenyatta University Funeral Home awaiting autopsy. Irungu is expected to be charged with murder.
Sonko Rescue Team is a registered non-governmental organisation (NGO) but some of its duties overlap with the mandate of the Nairobi county government.
Sonko launched the team in January 2015 when he was Nairobi Senator. It was certified as an NGO on May 4, 2017.
The rescue team is meant to enhance service delivery to residents, as a fulfilment of campaign promises he made during the run-up to the 2013 General Election.
