Police shot dead seven suspects and recovered an AK47 rifle and Administration Police jungle jackets on Thursday morning in Isinya, Kajiado County.

Detectives from the Special Services Unit of the DCI while acting on a tip-off trailed a black Toyota Fielder registration number KCB 583L within Isinya town but the suspects sped towards Mbirika trading centre along the Isinya-Kiserian road.

But on reaching the China Construction Site area, the suspects, having sensed that they were being trailed, made a U-turn and drove back towards Isinya general direction.

They were then confronted by the detectives challenged to stop, leading to a shootout.

All of them were shot dead and the AK47 rifle whose serial number had been obliterated, and loaded with 3 rounds of ammunition, recovered.

A senior detective told People Daily they had credible information that the suspects were behind violent robberies committed in Mlolongo, Isinya and Nairobi.

Also recovered were a pocket phone, an APS beret, seven mobile phones and assorted crude weapons.

Four identity cards bearing the names Patrick Ndunda Muli, Stephen Kilonzo Sumuni, Robert Wambua Mutano and Kevin Sila Musyimi were also found in the car.

The scene was visited by the Sub-County Police Commander and his DCI counterpart before the bodies were transferred to City Mortuary awaiting identification and postmortem.
