The government has turned away hundreds of people including senior citizens seeking to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

Marathon Hospital medical supreme dental assisted by police announced that only health workers, teachers and police are allowed to take the jab, even as vaccine seekers argued that this information is not in the public domain.

"The second tier programme of vaccination that involves people with comorbidity, senior citizens and other deserving cases will start from mid April onwards," directed the hospital medical superintendent emphasizing that these are regulations already in the public domain as stipulated by the Health Ministry.

Journalists were also asked to leave, and only be allowed to cover the event if they had a Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) authorisation.

Earlier, it was understood that there was a stampede at the hospital's main gate as dozens of people forced their way into the venue to be inoculated.

The hospital medical superintendent instructed their officers to only vaccinate health care workers, teachers and security officers.
