Presidential hopeful Raila Odinga now claims he was the architect behind the construction of the Sh 32 billion Thika Superhighway.

Odinga said he fast-tracked construction 50-kilometer road during the grand coalition government between him and former president Mwai Kibaki.

He revealed that members of Kikuyu community used to admonish him for the 8-lane controlled-access highway claiming that the project was meant to destroy their business enterprises.

"They would fight me for demolishing houses to pave way for construction of the Superhighway which is still there to date. I have delivered for this nation and I will do even more when I become president," he said.

Addressing his supporters at Thika Stadium in Kiambu County, Raila acclaimed President Uhuru Kenyatta for building the 84-kilometer Kenol-Marua road whose construction is almost complete.
