Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga's spouse Ida has endorsed Westlands Member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi for Nairobi Governor seat in 2022.

Ida said Wanyonyi is an intelligent and experienced politician who is qualified to manage Kenya's capital.

She called on Nairobi residents to support his candidature.

"He has been a councillor and an MP for two terms. Do you want him to go with just that? If he has got a dream, let him dream and we can help him achieve it," Ida said.

Ida spoke on Saturday while presiding over a graduation ceremony at Kibondeni College of Catering and Hospitality in Muthangari, Westlands.

She adddd: "He is a very organised, intelligent and educated person. I worked with him when he was at the Kenya Paraplegic Organisation.

"If it is something being done using brains, he's got very good brains.

"If it is something that needs good organisation, he is a very organised person."

Idea's endorsement comes as Wanyonyi declared his interest in the seat in an ODM ticket.

In a post on his Twitter account, the MP said he has done enough for Westlands constituency residents in the past 15 years.

"Ladies and gentlemen, while I have made huge efforts and contributions to uplifting the lives of our people in Westlands Constituency for over 15years, I now have a bigger calling to become the Governor of Nairobi County in 2022," he said.

MP Wanyonyi is a brother to Ford Kenya leader and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula.
