Vice Chairperson of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) Wambui Nyutu has declared she will not pursue the Senate nomination that was left vacant by nominated Senator Victor Prengei who passed away in a grisly road accident.

Nyutu says she has received, and continue to receive, numerous calls on the position that has since fallen vacant.

She has revealed that many of her supporters are curious to know if she is interested in the position given that her name was on the Jubilee Party-list alongside that of the late Senator.

‘’I have received, and continue to receive, numerous calls on the position that has since fallen vacant. Many are curious to know if I’d be interested in the position, given that my name was on the Jubilee Party-list alongside that of Senator Prengei,’’ she said.

However, the NCIC Vice Chairperson says the time is not yet ripe for her to be nominated to Parliament due to her position which she holds dear and in light of the circumstances she will not pursue the Senate nomination.

‘’It is and has been my desire to represent my fellow Kenyans in Parliament someday and when the time comes, I shall be keen to make it known and in the light of the foregoing, I will not pursue the Senate nomination,’’ Nyutu said.

In the same breath, Nyutu urged Jubilee party to offer the position to a deserving youth who has demonstrated exemplary character and vibrancy to serve the country and its people.

Nominated Senator Victor Prengei died after he was involved in a nasty road accident along the Kabarak – Nakuru road.

He was rushed to Nakuru Level Five Hospital for medical attention, where he, unfortunately, succumbed to the accident injuries moments later.

President Uhuru Kenyatta mourned him as a brilliant leader who worked tirelessly for the improvement of the welfare of Kenya's youth and minority communities.
