Shock has gripped Ichaweri and Ng’enda villages in Gatundu South constituency, Kiambu County after a 23-year-old boda boda rider was shot death by unknown people on Monday night while his wife was left contending with grave wounds.

The incident, that has left locals spending sleepless nights guarding against invasion by the deadly gang, happened a few meters from President Uhuru Kenyatta’s ancestral home.

The thugs, who were on a robbing mission forced Joseph Kagwa Kibe, a father of one out of his house after breaking in using sledge hammers and shot him several times at close range.

According to a postmortem report done at Kenyatta University mortuary on Wednesday, Kagwa was shot on the chest and the bullet hit his lungs before making its way out through the spinal code.

As his wife, Mary Mutindi Kagwa, went to rescue him, she also met the wrath of the violent robbers who shot her on the leg.

The four-man armed gang invaded Kagwa’s home and made away with two phones and Sh4,000 in cash.

As if that was not enough, the gang held Kagwa’s brother Daniel Gichiru Kibe hostage after killing his dog and dumped him in a nearby bush with injuries.

All the victims were taken to Gatundu Level V Hospital where Kagwa was pronounced dead.

The chilling murder has sparked fears of the re-emergence of a killer gang that terrorised the area a few months ago.
