President William Ruto has appointed former Senator Isaac Mwaura as government spokesperson.

Announcing the appointment on Wednesday, October 4, State House Chief of Staff Felix Koskei said Mwaura will be deputised by Mwanaisha Chidzuga and Gabriel Muthuma.

Mwaura was among the 50 Chief Administrative Secretaries (CAS) appointed by President Ruto in March.

He was, however, yet to assume office after the appointments were suspended by the High Court. The orders were issued following a petition lodged by the Law Society of Kenya.

In the case, LSK argues that the Head of State acted against the law by increasing the number of CAS slots from the originally recommended 23 to 50.

Mwaura will take over from Cyrus Oguna who resigned in October 2022, to take up the position of Chief of Staff in Siaya County government.
