United Democratic Alliance (UDA) governor seat candidate in Isiolo County Hussein Tene has stepped down in favour of independent candidate Godana Doyo.

Doyo will now battle out for the seat with Nairobi City County Assembly Majority Leader Abdi Guyo of the Jubilee party.

“Today, I have officially stepped down for my brother Godana Doyo,” Tene said on Sunday, July 17.

The latest development comes after TIFA Research released a poll survey showing Doyo as the most popular candidate.

“I thank God because this is a historic moment as a county. We know this because  we are brothers and our ties will not be cut off because of politics,” Guyo said.

Other candidates in the race include Kenneth Turibo Maore (PNU) and Kimaita Machuguma of Safina party.
