Itumbi: I have watertight petition against Matiang’i

Presidential Strategic Communications Unit Dennis Itumbi.

Former State House blogger Dennis Itumbi is this morning expected to move to court to sue Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i over the Sh1.5 billion Ruaraka land scandal.

In documents circulated to the media yesterday, Itumbi claimed Matiang’i bears the greatest responsibility over loss of public money in the scandal that has been in and out of court.

Speaking in Nairobi yesterday, Itumbi said he has watertight evidence to nail Matiang’i in a 193-page document he is is expected to file at the Chief Magistrate’s Court at Nairobi Milimani Law Courts Anti-Corruption Division.

He  has listed  the CS as first respondent, Director of Public Prosecutions and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission as the second and third respondents respectively.

The case will be filed under a certificate of urgency. “I have investigated this matter and established that one person who bears the highest responsibility on the outright theft of public land and loss of public money is Matiang’i,” he said Itumbi.

Itumbi also revealed that Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wa have agreed to testify against Matiang’i.

“Tomorrow morning at the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission Court I will ask the court to prosecute the CS on four counts. I have received confirmation from Sonko and Ichung’wa that they will testify as witnesses,” Itumbi said.

He said he had approached Sonko because the land in question is Nairobi while Ichung’wa chaired the National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee, which investigated the matter.
