Former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo has accused Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi of disowning his birth mother in order to impress the Deputy President William Ruto and his community.

Speaking during a One Kenya Alliance (OKA) rally in Kitui on Thursday, January 27, Jirongo said it was childish for Mudavadi to introduce himself as the son of the late Rosebella Jerono, his step-mother, instead of his birth mother Hannah Mudavadi.

"Politics is making you disown your own birth mother, Mama Hannah, to an extent that you begin referring to Rosebella Jerono, your stepmother, as your biological mother. That is childish and shameful!" Jirongo said.

Jirongo further called out Mudavadi for what he termed as betrayal after his pact with Ruto, pointing out that when Mudavadi's biological mother passed on, President Uhuru Kenyatta catered for her funeral expenses.

"We know that sometimes back, Mudavadi's mother, Hannah, passed away. And the person who financed the whole funeral was President Uhuru and it goes against respect to abuse the person who helped you in your time of need," Jirongo said.

In his verbal attack, Jirongo went ahead and accused Mudavadi of stagnating Kenya's economy in 1992 citing the Goldenberg financial scandal that saw Kenya lose millions of shillings through corrupt deals.

"The economy collapsed in Kenya and it was seen and thought that Jirongo and his team of Youth for KANU 92 were behind it. I have withstood the accusation for 30 years. It is the people associated with Goldenberg that made the economy collapse and one of them is my brother (Mudavadi)," Jirongo said.
