Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has summoned former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to appear before it on December 14 to shed light on the videos featuring judicial staff he has been sharing on social media.

In a letter shared by Sonko on Facebook and seen by People Daily Digital, JSC has constituted a panel and the former governor will be appearing as a witness.

"In the meantime, the commission shall require you to in person at JSC offices within seven days of service of this letter with a view to recording your statement on the circumstances surrounding this matter," JSC secretary Anne Ahmadi wrote.

Sonko has since responded and said he is ready for the summons.

"I thank the JSC for there speedy action with regard to the rot in the Judiciary I have been airing.

"The JSC has now officially summoned me to appear before it to shed light on the incidences of corruption in the Judiciary that I have been highlighting.

"I'm hopeful and I have a lot of faith that the JSC shall conduct independent and impartial investigations," he said.

Over the past one week, Sonko has been sharing videos of the Court of Appeal judge Justice Said Chitembwe allegedly soliciting for a bribe to give a favourable ruling on Sonko's impeachment case.
