The ruling Jubilee party has unveiled its candidate for Kiambaa Constituency and Muguga Ward by-elections.

This comes after a successful conclusion of interviews held in search of a strong candidate who will carry the Jubilee flag in the two mini-polls.

Karanja Kariri Njama has been nominated to be the Jubilee candidate in the Kiambaa by-elections while Mung'ara Joseph Githinji carried the day in Muguga.

The move comes a day after United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party unveiled its candidate for the two by-elections.

UDA Secretary General Veronica Maina awarded John Njuguna and Kamau Thumbi the nomination certificates for Kiambaa and Muguga by-elections respectively.

Unveiling of the candidates sets the stage for UDA and Jubilee to wrestle each other in what will play out as a supremacy battle whose end goal will be to establish who controls the larger Mt Kenya region.

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria's PEP party has also made an entry into the Kiambaa by-election through its candidate Raymond Kuria.

Kuria turned down pleas from his associates in UDA, not to field a candidate in Kiambaa.

The two seats fell vacant after the two legistlators succumbed to Covid-19.

The former Kiambaa MP Paul Koinange died on March 31 while the the former Muguga MCA Eliud Ngugi died on March 16.

The by-elections are slated for July 15.
