The Judiciary has termed reports about Chief Justice Martha Koome being hospitalised as fake news.

In a tweet on Thursday, January 19, 2023, the Judiciary shared a screenshot of the story about Koome's hospitalization and warned that it was fake news.

"FAKE NEWS ALERT!" the Judiciary tweeted.

The site that wrote the story claimed that the Chief Justice had been admitted to the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) for dialysis.

Koome has been a victim of fake news multiple times. In November 2022, it was alleged that the Chief Justice was related to the Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome.

The police IG was even forced to set the record straight that he was not related to the Chief Justice as social media was awash with false claims that the two were relatives because they share the name 'Koome'.

"Once in a while, I look at social media when I want to follow on gossip going on. Last night there was a talk on social media that Koome will be sworn in by Koome… Interesting discussion…I have no blood relationship with the CJ. It's only that she is married to one Koome Kiragu and I am Koome Japhet," police IG said shortly after his swearing-in on November 11, 2022.
