Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has responded to a claim by his Mathira counterpart Rigathi Gachagua who said that Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga can not match Deputy President William Ruto's campaign spirit.

Speaking over the weekend during a campaign trail by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in Muranga, Gachagua claimed that Raila is too old to keep up with Ruto in pursuit of votes ahead of the August 2022 polls.

"Stop disturbing Raila. You have seen that William Ruto can attend 15 to 11 rallies now you also want baba to do the same. He is tired. The other day you saw that a chopper had to fetch him so that he can rest," Rigathi said.

The Mathira MP was speaking in reference to Raila's Nyandarua rally which he had to cut short after he was airlifted by a chopper to a different location.

However, Junet defended Raila stating that the ODM party chief is an established brand adding that Raila does not need to traverse the country in search of votes.

"Chema cha jiuza na kibaya cha jitembesha. This guy (Ruto) has come up with a new party called UDA and he is walking all over in pursuit of votes. ODM is known in the whole of Kenya. There is no need for us to run around like night runners," Junet said.

In his argument, the Suna East MP said that UDA through its numerous rallies cannot bring together Kenyans the way ODM does.

"We do not need many rallies as Azimio la Umoja. All we need is to conduct rallies one by one and bring all Kenyans together," he said,
