Kagwe reports 98 new cases as eight more succumb to Covid-19
The Ministry of Health yesterday announced 98 new Covid-19 cases, from a sample of 3,739 tested over the last 24 hours.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe in a statement said the country’s total caseload had moved to 100,773 with the cumulative tests in the country standing at 1,186,951.
Of these cases, 86 are Kenyans and 12 are foreigners with 82 being males and 16 females.
In terms of the age, the youngest is a 10-year-old while the oldest is 85.
Kenya has witnessed 52 patients who have recovered from the disease, with 23 from the home-based care programme while 29 are from various health facilities.
The figure takes the number of recoveries in the country to 83,907.
Sadly, eight more patients succumbed to the virus, raising the total number of fatalities to 1,763.
Currently, there are 471 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,408 are on home-based isolation and care.
Twenty five patients are in ICU, 14 of whom are on ventilatory support and 11 on supplemental oxygen.
Another 16 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 13 of them in the general wards. Three are in the High Dependency Unit.
Distribution of the cases according to counties is as follows; Nairobi leads with 86 cases, Meru, Mombasa and Nakuru with two cases each while Busia, Kajiado, Kiambu, Machakos and Nyeri with one case.
